MyBPTracker+ can sync your blood pressure and heart‑rate readings with Apple Health, both ways: your readings appear in Health (and your other health apps and your doctor can see them), and readings you record elsewhere — another app, a connected monitor, or your Apple Watch — appear in MyBPTracker+.
This page explains how to connect, manage what syncs, and fix common issues.
Before you start: Apple Health is on iPhone (not iPad). Make sure the Health app is installed.
In MyBPTracker+, open Settings.
Tap Connect Apple Health.
In the Apple pop‑up, turn on access for Blood Pressure and Heart Rate — for both saving and reading — then tap Allow.
You'll land on the Apple Health screen in MyBPTracker+, where you can check status any time.
You only do this once. After connecting, permissions are managed in the Health app (see below).
Don't see Blood Pressure in the pop‑up? That's a known issue on some iOS versions — see Troubleshoot below.
On the Apple Health screen you'll see two groups:
Allow writing to Apple Health — your readings going out to Health. A green check means writing is on; an orange "?" means it's off (new readings wait until you turn it on). The time shows when MyBPTracker+ last wrote a reading.
Allow reading from Apple Health — readings coming in from Health. Apple doesn't tell apps whether reading is allowed, so this shows a neutral gray "?" that simply opens Apple Health to check or change it; the time shows when a reading last came in from another app.
Tap either status for a short explanation. Blood Pressure and Heart Rate are separate permissions — keep both turned on so a reading never loses its pulse.
You can change permissions in two places — use whichever is easier. If one screen doesn't show Blood Pressure, try the other.
In the Health app
Open the Health app.
Tap your profile picture, top right.
Go to Privacy → Apps.
Choose MyBPTracker+.
Turn Blood Pressure and Heart Rate on.
In Settings
Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
Choose MyBPTracker+.
Turn Blood Pressure and Heart Rate on.
Syncing is automatic. Readings you save in MyBPTracker+ go to Apple Health right away, and readings from other apps come in while the app is open — both when you open it and live for as long as it stays open. They do not arrive in the background while the app is closed.
If a reading from another app looks missing, give it a moment — it usually arrives on its own. Sync now (Apple Health screen → Sync now) is only a fallback: it forces a full two-way catch-up if something still hasn't shown up — for example, readings added in another app while MyBPTracker+ was closed.
A small heart‑with‑arrow icon on a reading shows its Apple Health link:
↑ — written by MyBPTracker+ to Apple Health.
↓ — read in from Apple Health.
Tap it for details ("Written to Apple Health" / "Read From Apple Health") and an Open Apple Health Settings shortcut. It appears on the Dashboard card and in History. No icon means the reading isn't synced (yet).
When you connect, MyBPTracker+ reads your date of birth, sex, height, and weight from Apple Health to fill in your Personal Details. You can still edit those fields yourself — they won't be overwritten.
Readings from other apps aren't showing up
Make sure reading is on: Apple Health → Manage in Apple Health, and turn Blood Pressure / Heart Rate on in the Health app.
Tap Sync now.
Reopen MyBPTracker+ (new readings also come in when you open the app).
Your readings aren't going to Apple Health
Check the Allow writing to Apple Health status. If it's off (orange "?"), turn on Blood Pressure / Heart Rate via Manage in Apple Health. Readings you took while it was off are kept and written automatically once you turn it back on (or tap Sync now).
You don't see "Blood Pressure" when granting access
On some iOS versions the Blood Pressure option doesn't appear in the Apple pop‑up. You can still turn it on directly: Manage in Apple Health → Open Health (or Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → MyBPTracker+), then switch Blood Pressure on. After that, saving and reading work normally.
A reading looks duplicated
If the same monitor reading reaches both MyBPTracker+ and another app (e.g. the monitor's own app), MyBPTracker+ links them into one entry. If two genuinely different readings happen to share the exact same values within a couple of minutes, they may appear as one — that's rare.
I deleted a reading in MyBPTracker+ but it's still in Health (or vice‑versa)
Deleting one of your readings removes it from Health too. A reading that came from Apple Health is owned by its source app — deleting it here removes only your local copy; delete the original in Apple Health. Deletions made in Health are mirrored back to MyBPTracker+.
There's no separate switch in MyBPTracker+ — Apple Health permissions are the control. To stop syncing, turn Blood Pressure and Heart Rate off for MyBPTracker+ in the Health app (or Settings → Privacy & Security → Health). Turn them back on any time and your readings catch up.
What data syncs?
Blood pressure (systolic/diastolic) and heart rate (pulse). On connect, MyBPTracker+ also reads your date of birth, sex, height, and weight to fill in your profile.
Which way does it sync?
Both ways. Your readings go to Apple Health; readings from other apps, monitors, or your Apple Watch come into MyBPTracker+.
Is it instant?
Your new readings appear in Health right away. Readings from other apps appear when you open MyBPTracker+ or while it's open; they don't arrive in the background in real time. If something looks missing, wait a moment first — it usually arrives on its own; Sync now is a manual fallback that forces an immediate catch-up.
Can I edit a reading that came from Apple Health?
Its values are read‑only in MyBPTracker+ because Apple Health (and the source app) owns it. To change the values, edit the reading in the source app — the update flows back here.
Where do imported readings appear?
Alongside your own readings on the Dashboard and in History, marked with the Apple Health icon.
