Mohamed received his B.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering from Ain Shams University, Egypt (2007), and his M.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering from the German University in Cairo (GUC) (2010). He completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (with focus on Robotics and Control) at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), Canada (2017).
During his Ph.D., he was a Visiting Scholar at Technische Universität Ilmenau, Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, and Universität Bremen in Germany. He also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Sessional Professor at Memorial University from March to September 2017.
From October 2017 to June 2018, he was a Sessional Professor at Ain Shams University, Egypt. He then joined the University of Waterloo as a Postdoctoral Fellow (NSERC awardee) in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering.
From 2021 to 2025, he worked at Zebra Technologies Canada as a Senior Path Planning and Control Engineer.
His research interests include control and state estimation of mobile robots and robotic manipulators, with a particular focus on optimization-based solutions.
