Ending our day hand in hand, we sing Count on Me by Bruno Mars as a reminder that we are a classroom family. This simple moment on the carpet brings us together to show that we love and can count on one another. By creating space for connection and belonging, we nurture positive feelings about school, provide social support, and care for the whole child. Believing in my students’ potential means building a community where every child feels valued, supported, and never alone.
Each morning at FCCA, our students proudly recite our mission statement, and in our classroom we have taken it a step further by adding meaningful motions to bring the words to life. By pairing movement with language, students do not just memorize the mission, they understand it. This daily practice reinforces our high expectations for all learners while building confidence, connection, and a strong sense of community. It is one small way to care for the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally, starting each day with purpose and unity.
In these activities, students worked together to sort respectful and disrespectful behaviors and played a “Roll and Respect” game to practice real-life scenarios. Through teamwork and discussion, they are strengthening their understanding of respect while building positive relationships and a strong classroom community.
Learning and laughter go hand in hand during our “Boom Clap Vowel” game. In this video, one of our students takes the lead as classmates listen closely for vowel sounds and race to grab the matching letter. The excitement and teamwork make practicing phonics engaging and joyful, helping students build positive feelings about learning. At the same time, the partner play and shared energy foster connection, encouragement, and a strong sense of classroom community.
