History

Merrimack Valley Robotics (MVR) was formed in 2016 initially to provide a legal entity to support FIRST Robotics Competition Team 5962 that was engaged in their rookie season. Team 5962 had student members from the Massachusetts cities and towns of Chelmsford, Dracut, Haverhill, Lowell, Methuen, Tewksbury, and Salem NH, hosted by the Francis College of Engineering at UMASS Lowell.

Achievements

In the spring of 2018, FRC Team 5962 was awarded the highest distinction of FIRST, the “Chairman’s Award” at the New England District Championship. This award earned the team a berth in the FIRST Championship in Detroit MI. This was the third year for FRC Team 5962. Most teams earning Chairman’s Award have been in existence for more than 15 years.

Robots

Since 2016 FRC Team 5962 has made four robots to compete in that years FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) challenge. Since then we have competed at local offseason events, district qualifying events in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, the New England District Championship and even the World Championship in Detroit.
