It’s never too early to discover STEM. FIRST LEGO League Jr.* is designed to introduce STEM concepts to kids ages 6 to 10 while exciting them through a brand they know and love − LEGO®.
Guided by adult coaches and FIRST® Core Values, students build models using LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 and create Show Me posters to present what they learned. The program focuses on building interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through a real-world challenge – to be solved by research, critical thinking, and imagination.
We support 30+ FIRST LEGO League Jr teams in local schools. We provide training and the materials that are needed for teams of 4-6 students each in grades K-4. FLL Jr is a program that generally meets once a week for 12-13 weeks, and culminates in an Expo for students to display and celebrate their work in an environment similar to a science fair.
Our FLL Jr, program started in 2017 with 4 teams and one Expo to celebrate the students work. It has now grown two two cycles each year with 24 teams and 2 expos at the end of each cycle. We host a expo in Winter and Spring each year and continue to add more teams each year. One of our first teams in the St. Patrick's school expanded there program to over a 100 students.
We host a 2 expos each year at Lowell High school to celebrates the students work. During the expo there are many activities for the students to do besides presenting to the judges. We have station were the students can drive the FRC teams robot, Lego free build, face painting and build marshmallow bridges.
