FIRST® LEGO® League is the most accessible, guided, global robotics competition, helping students and teachers to build a better future together. The program is built around theme-based Challenges to engage children ages 9 to 16* in research, problem solving, coding, and engineering. The foundation of the program is the FIRST® Core Values, which emphasize teamwork, discovery, and innovation. Students emerge more confident, excited, and equipped with the skills they need in a changing workforce.
We support 2 FIRST LEGO League teams in local schools. We provide training and the materials that are needed for teams of 4-6 students each in grades K-4. FLL Jr is a program that generally meets once a week for 12-13 weeks, and culminates in an Expo for students to display and celebrate their work in an environment similar to a science fair. This program is still new and we have plans to grow it.
We created two teams at the Wang Middle School and Stockolosa Middle School in 2018 and plan to expand our program in the near future
We host a 2 expos each year at Lowell High school to celebrates the students work. During the expo there are many activities for the students to do besides presenting to the judges. We have station were the students can drive the FRC teams robot, Lego free build, face painting and build marshmallow bridges.
