Creating Community in Multiple Ways
In some of my classes the students have had lower interaction with their peers on content during instruction that in years past. To start fostering community and model student engagement I dedicated space for a group interaction using Padlet. The students had a model to follow for their interactions in the beginning and it became more fluid and natural as the activities continued. Some of the responses to other students led to further discussion in class and helped my own instruction to understand where the students were deepening their understanding. Students would also help each other to know what to do if they saw someone had not answered. I have also learned to utilize other programs such as Flipgrid to model presentations that students could return to and allow them to practice their language skills which is an essential domain in a way they found their comfort and could express creativity. Finally, a project from one of my classes for my coworkers has become a useful tool in instructing students on how to use content for projects responsibly.

Artifact 1: Padlet Interactive Activities (Fall 2021)
The two Padlets are an example of how I have worked to model community building in the classroom as well as positive and thoughtful comments. In teach Padlet all students were expected to respond after reviewing a content text. These comments were not made in isolation but rather students were encouraged to read others work, build upon it, and comment or question further.

Artifact 2: Flipgrid Activities (2020-2021)
Flipgrid was an important tool during remote and hybrid learning as it often became a preferred environment for students to speak on their topics. Because the student created videos are able to be viewed by all, it helps the class have conversations around appropriate and accurate feedback and what kind of feedback students respond to best. The artifact hold many of the prompts that have been used in the last couple academic years. Note that they include sentence frame and each time a new topic is introduce, I will provide an example of a response so students understand the expectations.

Artifact 3: TE868 Copyright, Fair Use, and Ethics - Copyright & Fair Use Project (Summer 2020)
In this artifact my goal was to present to fellow teachers on how we can instruct our classes on Copyright and Fair Use policies. I also included resources that I am using with my own students to show how to properly use media found on the internet. This allows students to confidently create illustrative project without concern over misusing other's works.
