7240: String Orchestra

String Orchestra is the entry point into the Monta Vista Orchestra program. This class serves all incoming 9th graders, as well as students new to our orchestra program, and those seeking an intermediate high school level experience. Auditions are not required for entry.
Recommended: Participation in Middle School Orchestra or private lessons.
7250: Chamber Orchestra

Chamber Orchestra serves as the advanced string ensemble at Monta Vista High School. Chamber Orchestra provides a rigorous course of study for experienced string players, with an emphasis on advanced college-level repertoire. In 2022, the Monta Vista Chamber Orchestra was selected as one of only 6 orchestras from across the country to perform at the most prestigious music conference in the world—The Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois. This performance has earned our orchestra recognition as one of the top high school orchestras in the nation. Beginning in the 2024, participation in String Orchestra will be required to enroll in Chamber Orchestra. Auditions for chamber orchestra are typically held in the month of February. Information about auditions will be posted on the home page when available.
