7120: Concert Band

Grades: 9, Credits: 10, UC/USC Requirement: f

Concert Band is our pre-audition course for all 9th grade Wind and Percussion students. This class builds upon foundational skills from Middle School Band. 

Recommended: Participation in Middle School Band or private lessons.

7130: Symphonic Band

Grades: 9-12, Credits: 10, UC/USC Requirement: f

Symphonic Band is our intermediate band class at Monta Vista High School, and is open to all 10th-12th graders. 9th graders may apply by audition only. Students in Symphonic Band will build upon skills learned in Concert Band with a stronger emphasis on musical repertoire (grades 2.5-4). 

Recommended: Participation in Concert Band (7120).

7140: Wind Ensemble

Grades: 9-12, Credits: 10, UC/USC Requirement: f

Wind Ensemble serves as our advanced band class at Monta Vista High School. Wind Ensemble students experience a more rigorous course of study, with an emphasis on college-level musical repertoire. Students grade 9-12 are admitted by audition only.
