The instructional staff must maintain technical competency, meet the requirements to be an approved instructor and meet all state and local requirements for accreditation.
Carlson was a police officer for a Southern California police department. She held positions as a juvenile officer, DRE instructor, Bike team member FTO, community relations officer, and FTO coordinator. Carlson has been a CTE law instructor for 20 years. She started the program with Intro to Law Enforcement and quickly added Crime Scene Investigation/Forensic Science. The Capstone class, Criminal Procedures was added a few years ago. All three courses are articulated with the community college and students earn college credit when they complete the class and pass the final.
