This is iteration 8 of our DECODE season robot which is named "1A". It is by far our nicest looking and most advanced robot, featuring a 15-inch vectoring intake with mecanum wheels, a 2-stage servo driven lifting mechanism, a 360-degree AI auto-tracking launch turret, a custom 3-pound steel flywheel, quick release side panels, and a surgical tubing ball transfer.
The dual stage lifting mechanism allows 18 inches of clearance, ensuring our alliance partner's robot can fit under.
The 3-pound flywheel made with custom plasma-cut steel disks reduces speed loss when turning it on and off.
The 15-inch vectoring intake uses mecanum wheels to ensure all balls it contacts go towards the transfer.
The 360-degree turret uses herringbone gears to rotate back and forth. The size of these gears creates a 4.5:1 speed reduction, which reduces the amount of torque required to change the aim of the launcher. In addition to this, it also uses a Limelight AI camera to track where it should launch each item.
