Our activities
Southern Cross University Muslim Students' Society is the student body which represents and caters for Muslim students on campus, supports faith by fulfilling the religious, educational and social needs. It helps Muslim students maintain their Islamic identity on campus by providing a space for prayer, networking, promoting religious understanding among all students as well as helps the Muslim community or anyone needs at Lismore in religious and cultural matters such as-
Welcoming the new Muslim Students at Lismore.
Organizing daily prayers while they are at campus at Chapel.
Looking after the prayer room.
Promoting culture and organizing events like Ramadan Iftar.
Provide information on accommodation and food to anyone needs.
Other volunteering activities as follow-
During the COVID-19 panic buys we helped the elderly and disabled people to get the essentials in Lismore.
During the bushfire 2019, we contacted every possible student, both local and international, who live near the bushfire affected area in Northern Rivers, and those who have been evacuated from their homes, with offers of food, shelter, transportation and space to store any belongings they could save.
In the 2017 and 2022 devastating floods in Lismore and surrounding area, our volunteers worked along with the local community in the recovery.
All through the pandemic, we made awareness campaigns among the students and the local community about how the COVID-19 spreads, how to stop the spread, encouraged people to follow the rules and social distancing measures.
We get the students and community members informed and inspired about the Government COVID-19 vaccination initiatives as well as refutes any misconception or rumour about vaccine, notified people any updates, whenever any site accepts booking or vaccination clinic opens and helped anyone who embraces challenges.
