Private Music Lessons

Mr. U offers beginning, intermediate and advanced private lessons in Piano, Voice and Drums. Most lesson material and all teaching is done in English. For non-native English speakers, private music lessons are a great opportunity to promote English language skills in an enriching and fun way. Send us an email for more information and scheduling.

Lesson Details:

Lessons are available for 30, 45 or 60 minutes. Regular rates are as follows: €30/half-hour; €45/45-minute lesson; €60/60-minute lesson. The lessons offer a balance of technique, music theory and skill development. Students are expected to practice daily for an amount of time both student and parents agree on.

Piano:

The student and teacher will utilize lesson books that develop repertoire that is appropriate to the age and ability of the student. The lesson book is supplemented with similar theory and technique books to challenge the student. When possible, the student can choose one special piece that has meaning to them and is played near the end of the lesson.

Voice:

Mr. U has an abundance of fun and energizing vocal warm ups and exercises that begin each voice lesson. Next, students spend time learning basic music theory. Often theory is taught by exploring and developing skill on an accompaniment instrument like piano or ukulele. Students sing music that has meaning to them or challenges them to appreciate a new style.

Drums:

The student and teacher work together to develop a sense of pulse and build common vocabulary that promote the concepts of steady beat and rhythm. The students have direct input on how their learning develops best. Since being a percussionist can be challenging at younger ages, a flexible lesson style is used to accommodate the individual learner. Some students prefer to focus on an orchestral-rudimentary approach on snare drum and glockenspiel while others prefer to play drum set.

Recital:

In collaboration with the music department of the American Overseas School of Rome, a spring recital is organized for musicians to showcase their talent. All students not enrolled at AOSR are required to pay an €80 insurance waiver to participate with music lessons or events on the AOSR campus.
