Andrew Ulrich
Professional Music Educator
Mr. Andrew Ulrich has over 15 years of experience teaching in music education. As a teaching artists in Cleveland and Chicago Public Schools, he has had the opportunity to witness the growth of students of many ages, abilities and circumstances through music. Mr. U attended Bowling Green State University and The University of Akron in his home state of Ohio in 1996 and 2006. He has performed and traveled with many groups including Chorales, Drum & Bugle Corps, Symphonic Bands, and more. Mr. U feels the most important element within a classroom is forming a sense of cohesion and community. By emphasizing "7 Virtues in Music" Mr. U incorporates character development into his daily music lessons. Mr. U currently holds a teaching post at the American Overseas School of Rome where he also serves as the Fine Arts Department Chair. Mr. U looks forward to connecting with more students and reaching more classrooms by sharing his innovative teaching style and practices online.
Mr. U currently resides in Rome, Italy with his wife Sharon and their dog, Huey. Mr. U enjoys listening to all types of music, playing piano, cooking, and being outdoors. He loves working with the students of AOSR and engaging in music experiments and class performances as well as larger productions throughout the year. In Italy Mr. U feels excited to be learning a new language and more about the many cultures represented amongst the international school community where he works.
