There will most likely be a question on an aspect of health and safety in the written exam. Recently they have been asking about display screens – the screen you are looking at on the computer.
The issues with these is that you can strain your eyes with long exposure to the screen. Having the screen too bright or too dark will also cause your eyes to get tired. To help avoid this, you should take regular breaks away from the screen, including phone screens, to allow your eyes to rest.
Trips and falls - caused by cables that are messy, placed across a path way, not taped down to the floor to keep them secure, not made visible for people to avoid.
Spills from liquids - this can damage equipment like instruments from water getting into the electrical components. It is especially bad for high powered electrical equipment like computers, TVs, amplifiers. Spilling liquid into a high voltage piece of equipment often causes fires.
Strains and Sprains - these are caused from moving heavy equipment without the proper training about how to lift, or without the help of someone else. Do not lift heavy equipment on your own! You risk damaging yourself and the equipment if you were to drop it.
Quite often a question about Health and Safety might ask you to point out an issue and then come up with a solution to the problem. Think about how you would deal with the issues outlined above.
