Our goal for this assignment was to make the audience have to think about where the sounds could be coming from. We tried to find very specific and unique noises to include. We searched for peaceful and calming noises as well as loud and city like sounds as well such as cars driving over a bump or a rock wall. Our goal was to bring life to this piece by all very different musical sounds. As our base sound, we choose the big water fountain because we enjoyed the water dripping sounds. Some sounds came from people and others were natural. We included birds chirping as well as footsteps of students lingering by. Our favorite part was being able to walk all around the beautiful campus searching for very subtle noises that we might haven’t encountered yet. Having voices as well as footsteps and chirping birds brings this piece to life.
For our piece this week, we started with a guitar in the very beginning with some drums to open the song. Then it goes into the actual introduction of the song. The introduction is mostly drums, but includes a bell aswell The bell is our favorite part in this intro. Then we head into the first verse which was introduced with different guitars. We really enjoyed how the guitars played and sounded together. After that is our chorus, which is a dramatic change in the beats. The chorus sounds like some sort of bongo. This is combined with the sounds of the keyboard. We decided to create the chorus beat so differently because we wanted an intense effect, and obvious change. Then we enter verse 2 which includes some similiar sounds as the first beat. Different types of drums were used for verse 2. Finally we enter the final chorus, and the outro of our song.
This week we had to create a piece using the guitar or other chord instruments provided to us. We immediately went to the guitars and decided to get creative with our beat. We wanted to work on a sound that was pleasing to listen to. Our beat this week includes a lot of harmony and texture. The sounds blended really well together in the end also. We included drums, keyboards, and other instruments in this piece. In the end, our group was pretty excited and proud of how this weeks piece came out.
