ChromeVox is the built-in, free screen reader for ChromeOS devices (Chromebooks) and a web extension for the Google Chrome browser. 

It reads on-screen text, menus, and web pages out loud to help people with visual impairments use their computers. [1, 2]

How to Use ChromeVox

Quick Turn On or Off

• Keyboard Shortcut: Press Ctrl + Alt + Z on any screen to turn ChromeVox on or off.

• Tablets: Press and hold both the volume down and volume up buttons for five seconds.

• Settings App: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Text-to-Speech and toggle on ChromeVox. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Basic Keyboard Commands

• Stop Speaking: Press Ctrl.
