Stolems – Polish giants
In the Kashubian region, a land full of lakes and hills, there once lived powerful giants known as Stolems. These were beings of immense strength, capable of moving large boulders and shaping the landscape as they pleased.
One day, a young Stolem named Grom fell in love with a beautiful Kashubian girl named Maja. Maja was known throughout the area for her beauty and kindness. Grom, wanting to win her heart, decided to do something special. He knew that Maja loved spending time by the water, so he decided to create a lake for her.
Grom worked day and night, moving huge stones and earth. His efforts were not in vain – soon a beautiful lake emerged, surrounded by green hills and blooming meadows. Maja was delighted and often came to the lake to admire its beauty.
However, not everything was so simple. Another Stolem, jealous of Grom, decided to destroy his creation. One night, while Grom was sleeping, the jealous giant began throwing stones into the lake, trying to fill it up. Fortunately, Maja noticed what was happening and woke Grom. Together, they managed to stop the jealous Stolem and save the lake.
From that day on, Grom and Maja were inseparable. The lake that Grom created became a symbol of their love and is still known today as Stolem's Lake. People say that on calm nights, you can hear the whisper of the wind telling the story of the great love between the giant and the beautiful girl.
