This video resume was created during his third year at the International Islamic University Malaysia.
Muhammad Afiq bin Norazman was born on 28th December 1996 in Kuala Lumpur. He had his primary education at SK Serendah, Selangor. He then underwent his secondary education at SMKA Kuala Selangor for the next 5 years. In 2014, he began his tertiary education journey. He started off with Foundation Studies in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) at UiTM Kuantan for a year. He was later offered a place in the Kulliyyah of Education (KoED) at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) for the Bachelor of Education (TESL) programme. He successfully completed his degree and graduated on time in June 2019.
In December of the same year, he was offered a permanent lecturing post under the Ministry of Education (Higher Education). He was then posted to Kolej Komuniti Bagan Datuk on 19th February 2020.
That's when his career life began.
Throughout his journey in pursuing education in the field of TESL, he has undergone a lot of interview sessions. The one question that he has always been required to answer is "Why do you want to take TESL?" His answer has always been (and will always be) "it's because I've seen how unfortunate my friends were in learning and grasping the English language". This thought was manifested as a result of seeing how students coming from sub-urban/rural areas displayed their attitudes and performances towards the language. He wants to change this unsettling situation.
He has always believed that all students are unique. And in order to maximise and realise their true and full potential- intellectually, emotionally, physically and spiritually-, creating a stimulating classroom environment is a must. It is his aspiration to create a supportive learning atmosphere whereby students will respect and not make fun of each other whenever one is doing mistakes in learning, and use their abilities to help one another. He will also assist his students to express themselves and share ideas so that learning can be constructive and be done collaboratively.
