ANG Squadron Commander's Course (SCC) is designed for Squadron / Flight Commanders currently occupying or projected to occupy a G-Series command billet on the Unit Manning Document. ANG O-2s to O-6s may attend. The course provides a venue to share leadership experiences and issues that affect Commanders daily. SCC is conducted ‘By the Field, For the Field’ and supports the basic premise of “What I wish I had known before assuming command.” You will learn from seasoned ANG commanders, NGB/A Staff, current and retired general officers, JAG, Chaplain, Financial Management and Personnel. Briefings encompass the good and bad experiences from commanders with years of experience. Personal and open discussion is a trademark of this course. ANG Commander Leadership Course (CLC) is five days and provides attendees with an opportunity to hear presentations from and participate in discussions with senior Air National Guard and Air Force leaders, The seminar synthesizes the experiences of seasoned commanders and leaders throughout the Air National Guard to offer leading edge thinking and best practices to enhance the student's leadership capacity. The course gives attendees the latest information and exposure to understand and handle a broad spectrum of issues/challenges both at home and in the National Capital Region, including NGB and Congressional Delegate familiarity. The CLC is a command-focused leadership development course designed for Air National Guard leaders, Lieutenant Colonel - Colonel, who are in command or assuming command positions at the O-6 level. The course is also valuable for Colonels and Lt Colonels assigned at Wing or Headquarters levels that are being prepared for Group or Wing Command. Lt Colonels should possess an approved COE to attend. The CLC is also open to Army National Guard Colonels/General Officer candidates working within their states or at the JFHQ as well as Active Component officers serving at ANG Associate Units in command roles. Officer development opportunities such as International Junior Officer Leadership Development Seminar, Leadership Development Course, Legislative Liaison, Reserve Component National Security Course are outstanding opportunities to develop and refine leadership knowledge and abilities. In-residence Professional Military Education (PME) opportunities such as Intermediate Developmental Education (IDE) and Senior Developmental Education (SDE) move the Officer and his/her family to become a student at the respective school for 9-12 months. There are a variety of options available for IDE and SDE. In-residence PME packages must be received by NGB NLT COB 15 Jul
Distance PME in the form of SDE from the Army War College is a Distance Education Program (DEP) at the U.S. Army War College (USAWC) and is a 24-month online program starting July with two two-week in person summer sessions at the end of your first year (June of the following year) and second year (July of the second year) of studies. Upon completion of the program, officers are awarded SDE, Joint PME II credit and a master's degree. Distance SDE packages must be received by NGB NLT COB 9 Feb
School of Advanced Aerospace and Space Studies (SAASS) is the USAF graduate school for strategists. It is a 50-week course that focuses on creating "warrior-scholars with a superior ability to develop, evaluate, and employ airpower within the complex environment of modern war". Upon successful completion, members receive a master of philosophy degree in military strategy. National Guard Joint Officer Management (JOM) Bench. The NGB JOM Bench program provides officers in the grades of grades O4 - O6 the opportunity to compete for T-10 Joint Duty Assignments. These Joint Duty Assignments include positions on the Joint Duty Assignment List (JDAL) and positions on a Joint Manning Document which enable service members to self-nominate for Joint Credit. Members selected for the bench will be considered for assignment to Joint Duty Assignments for one year or until the release of the next bench results. Assignments will be T10 Continued Tour/One Time Occasional Tour/Statutory Tour (as applicable) for no less than 22 months. As part of the application process you and your member will be asked to provide inputs regarding ideal start dates and end dates for the member's assignment. You will also be asked to provide an outlook on the force development plan for your officers following completion of a Joint Assignment. JOM Bench assignments could be either CONUS or OCONUS. Tours will be NGB-funded to include permanent change of station (PCS) to and from the assignment. With TAG concurrence, Major and Lieutenant Colonel members may be afforded promotion opportunities. All nominations will be coordinated via NGB-SL through your office. Members will not be processed for assignment prior to your concurrence. JOM packages must be received by NGB-SL NLT COB 31 May
Military Reserve Exchange Program (MREP) is to provide National Guard and Reserve Participants training associated with mobilization duties while enhancing their ability to work and communicate with military individuals of the host nation. As an opportunity for Professional Development, Reserve Component officers and enlisted members complete their annual training serving in a duty assignment similar to their wartime assignment while gaining the understanding of the training, doctrine, and operations of NATO alliance partners.
