What is Kami?

Kami is a great resource for teachers to use to allow students to complete PDF worksheets without the need for a printer! This website is awesome for teachers to utilize, especially now with virtual learning and with many classrooms going "paperless". It is also helpful to send to students who might not have a printer at home, it will allow them to still complete assignments! Teachers can upload their PDF assignments to Kami and share it with their students using a link or using Google Drive/Google Classrooms. Students can then open the PDF and type or draw directly on to it, and then send it back to the teacher!

What I created!

To the left is the PDF I made to go along with a Kindergarten math lesson for the standard; NC.K.CC.5 Count to answer “How many?” in the following situation: given a number from 1–20, count out that many objects. I used Google Drawings to create the worksheet and then saved it as a PDF. Once it was saved, I uploaded it to Kami and shared it. When the Kami link is shared, students can complete the worksheet and then submit it for feedback! Kami allows students to type directly on to the PDF using a text box, but it also allows them to draw on the PDF directly using a drawing tool. This is especially helpful when students are using personal iPads to complete homework assignments. Although Kami is useful when sending out and completing homework assignments, it can be used for things as well! For example, teachers can use Kami in class when having students fill out classwork. It can also be used with co-workers when sharing files and assignments or asking for a co-workers feedback on a potential lesson you might want to use!

Completing the assignment

To the left is a screenshot example of what the worksheet looks like filled out on Kami. As you can see, the student was able to use the text box feature to answer the questions. To the left of the screenshot you can see the toolbar with the other features that Kami offers when filling out the PDF. Students have the option to include shapes, photos and equations as well when completing the assignment. As you can see, the worksheet only required students to give a number answer. However, teachers can use Kami to ask their students to fill out worksheets that require drawing or coloring as well!

Giving Feedback

After the students complete the assignment and send it back to the teacher, the teacher can use Kami to give feedback. There are a few tools that allow them to do this. First of all, teachers can use the comment tool at add comments to specific areas of the assignment. The teacher can also use the drawing tool to make check marks marking correct answers, or circle any mistakes on the assignment. All in all, Kami is an extremely useful tool for teachers and students to use. It saves time, and paper, and makes filling out worksheets so much easier! I highly recommend it!
