The definition of neglect is to fail to care for properly, or the state or fact of being uncared for. It is important to understand that there is not just one general type of neglect, in fact, there are four: physical, educational, emotional, and medical. There are many obvious signs of neglect that I have sensed in many kiddos. They do not go without being noticed, and it is a huge part of my job to advocate for these individuals. When I was in high school, there was a boy in the grade below me who had to experience the passing of his little brother due to neglect of every type. This is a serious issue that can lead to losing a child forever. It is only a matter of time before lack of basic needs, education, nurturing, and proper health care become problems that are too late to fix.
