Government

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Government, also known as Civics in the United States, is traditionally one of the final college preparatory social science courses students take in high school. It is a 9-week course and is paired with Economics for all seniors. Through the years, government has evolved into a course that not only studies the origins and philosophy of our nation’s system of democracy, but now also instructs and informs a student about political participation in such a system. Influences such as party politics, the media and interest groups are discussed in addition to a traditional examination of the branches of the federal system and a study of the state of California’s governing system. Finally, a discussion of the growth and protection of civil liberties over the course of our nation’s history is covered, enabling students to become literate citizens capable of making informed decisions in the future. This course is a graduation requirement. Students must pass this class in order to graduate.

IMPORTANT INFO

I primarily use Google Classroom and Schoolloop as my means of communication between students, parents/guardians and myself. I have linked the Google Classroom below for Term 1 for the 2020 - 2021 school year. The code for this term's class is gunxduv. You WILL need to register for Google Classroom using your FUSD Google accounts as it will contain important information regarding assignments, projects, lectures, etc. Parents, if you wish you join as well, shoot me an email and I can add you as well.
