Please utilize this schedule when deciding to whom to route your TE's.
You can see who is currently on site to see if the attending you originally discussed the case with will be on in the next 1-2 days, or who will be on site when you are this week, etc.
It is up to you as long as you ensure the TE is sent to an appropriate attending!
Ensure you have a telephone encounter (TE) for all patient results (i.e. one TE for each visit).
If the results are "normal," you do not need to speak with your preceptor before discussing with the patient through the portal or phone.
After creating a TE documenting what you did with these normal results, you can route the TE to an attending (even if it's just an FYI) and then mark the labs as "reviewed."
If you call the patient from your cell phone, please use Doximity to set your "display number" as the Ryan center or block your number. NEVER give out your cell phone number.
If the labs are NOT entirely normal, you need to create a TE to discuss your plan.
After opening/creating a TE, you should mark the labs as "reviewed."
If it concerns your patient or a patient on your "team," please document what you would do (including if RX is ready to be sent and filling out a virtual visit, if applicable) before sending it to a preceptor.
If they erroneously sent the message to you, you can send it back to whoever sent it (as long as not urgent) or to your preceptor.
The expectation is that you come up with a plan.
It is NOT ok to just send to your preceptor as an FYI. You can decide if it's appropriate to send a recall letter, remind yourself next tme you're in clinic if the patient doesn't show up, make an earlier appointment, etc. Please present your plan when sending over the TE.
Please utilize the schedule above schedule when deciding to whom to route your TE's.
