The Arts & Practice curriculum for categorical interns consists of an annual longitudinal series of interactive, small-group sessions. The mission is to provide a space for residents to develop a deeper understanding of the social and operational contexts that inform our practice as physicians- topics not assessed through traditional exams or standardized tests yet, which are fundamental to success in medicine. We focus on developing practical skills to achieve competencies in ACGME milestones of Systems-Based Practice, Practice-Based Learning & Improvement, Professionalism, & Interpersonal and Communication Skills. Ideally, these sessions will help residents use critical thinking and application to navigate complex healthcare systems with context and empathy.
