Core Values
Ms. Thomason’s class
Communication: Having an open conversation that allows students to effectively and efficiently communicate with each other and the teacher. I want students to feel like they can talk to me and in our space safely.
Play: I will hold myself accountable to make every class informative and fun. In early ages, play is essential to learning. Informative and playful teaching fuels creative and brave theatre members.
Empathy: I will openly converse with my students with no pre-judgement. I will actively listen to put myself in the shoes of others and to validate any emotions that the student may be feeling. I will take into account the outside factors that affect a student's work and attitude while still holding them to realistic standards and my expectations of my students.
Gratitude: I will go into every class with the mindset that I am blessed to have another day to spread the magic of theatre regardless of my outside factors. I am alive, healthy, and have an amazing job that allows me to influence the future change of the world.
Self-Grace: I vow to give myself grace when things do not go my way. I will not fret over the small things I cannot control. I will allow myself time to breathe and reset when I find my day has been difficult. I will adapt and accept that things are not always going to be perfect. Self-grace is important and I deserve that.
