Mentors are there to motivate, support, and guide you in your journey of developing and meeting your professional and personal goals. In this program, you can expect to receive individualized support, expand your connections, and gain knowledge and skills helpful to increasing your confidence as a speech-language pathologist, audiologist, SLP2Be or AuD2Be.
Mentees are expected to commit to one hour per of proactive engagement with their mentor monthly. Interaction will take place via email, text messages, virtually, or face-to-face. Mentees should identify their goals for this mentorship program which will guide the type and level of support received from their mentor. Mentees will lead the conversations with their questions and topic of interest.
We ask our mentees to make commitments of at least eight months to ensure you fully benefit from the relationship, but the duration can ultimately be determined by the mentee and mentor. Commitment from both the mentee and mentor is needed for the relationship to develop and grow. If the mentee has to leave the relationship early, please inform your mentor and inform the mentorship committee that the relationship has ended.
If the relationship with your mentor is not going well, we encourage you to contact your mentor to discuss concerns and contact the mentorship committee at mshamentors@gmail.com for assistance. We will provide our full support to resolve the situation in a positive and satisfactory manner.
