The Mentorship Program facilitates a mentor and mentee pair for one to one support. It's primary goal is to foster the professional growth of potential speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and audiologists, as well as those in training or currently practicing in the field through creating meaningful connections with experienced and dedicated SLP and audiology mentors.
The Basics
Mentees are undergrad or graduate students, clinical fellows, SLPs or Audiologists in Maryland with less than 3 years experience seeking insight or guidance within the field of speech language pathology or audiology. The program is driven by the goals and priorities of the mentee.
Mentors are licensed SLPs or Audiologists in Maryland with at least 5 years of work experience. The mentor contributes support, resources and experiential knowledge. Mentors are committed to learning about, reflecting on and practicing cultural responsitivity.

Expectations for Participants
The commitment timeline is from August 2025- March 2026. The mentor/ mentee pair will be in contact for at least one hour monthly. Mentoring activities can include video calls, in-person meet ups, phone calls and emails. Frequency and method of meetings will be determined by the mentor and mentee.
In order to participate potential mentors and mentees are required to complete the informational survey (see link below).
Mentors and mentees will be individually matched with a mentee by the mentorship committee and receive your match by August 2025.
It is the intent of the program to match a mentee with a mentor who best suits the mentee's needs and interests. Mentees are matched and mentors are matched based on:
the type of support a mentee is seeking
a population/ setting/ specialization they indicate interest in
elements of their intersectional identity should they prioritize and disclose
It is possible that there are insufficient mentors or mentees for each person to receive a match.
