Maryland Speech Language Hearing Association
Founded in 1964, the Maryland Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSHA) is a nonprofit organization representing nearly 4,000 licensed professionals with advanced degrees in speech- language pathology and audiology. Reflecting the cultural diversity of state, MSHA represents professionals sensitive to the diverse needs of all citizens in need of member services. MSHA hosts two continuing education training sessions yearly, a spring symposium and clinical connections as well as job fairs.
The Multicultural Affairs Committee (MSHA MAC) meets monthly and actively promotes cultural and linguistic awareness as well as culturally competent practice of Maryland Communication Disorder Professionals. Initiatives that are underway include the development of this mentorship program, dissemination of scholarship information, a career fare committee, suggestions of continuing education speakers/ topics and review of policies to ensure responsiveness to cultural and linguistic influences.
