Welcome to B214

Ms. Goh's Fifth Grade Class

December 2020

Dear B214 Families,

Goodbye November...and HELLO December! It is hard to believe that we have reached the Thanksgiving Break milestone already! There is so much to be grateful for, but, most of all, I am so thankful to be your child's teacher! There are always tons of laughs and smiles every day. Additionally, thank you for your kind and consistent support at home that ensures your child is successful at school.

Students have been hard at work moving through our fifth grade curriculum! In Writers Workshop, students have wrapped up their first argumentative/persuasive writing essay about "The Great Chocolate Milk Debate". When we return from break, students will begin writing another argumentative/persuasive essay based on the research they have been doing with their Readers Workshop's Research Issues.

In Readers Workshop, students have been hard at work taking notes, practicing summarizing skills, and becoming experts in different issues. When we return from break, students will begin to synthesize and compile the information they gathered from articles and other sources into essays and presentations.

In math, we wrapped up Module 3: Addition and Subtraction of Fractions this week. When we return from break, students will begin Module 4: Multiplication and Division of Fractions and Decimal Fractions.

Best,

Ms. Goh
