I am so excited to be a part of the Creekside community! This will be my tenth year at Creekside and my twelfth year as a teacher- time flies! At Creekside, I have been lucky enough to teach a 3/4 combination, first grade, and third grade classes. This year, I am thrilled to make a return to fifth grade, as it is the grade level where I began my teaching career!
I grew up in Danville and always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. I went to San Ramon Valley Christian Academy and The Athenian School. From there, I graduated from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts where I was a double major in American Studies and Sociology.
After graduation, I returned to Wellesley College for a post-baccalaureate year to complete the multiple subjects teaching credential program and attain a Massachusetts Elementary (1-6) Teaching License. Most recently, I completed the Masters in Teaching Leadership program and attained a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential at Saint Mary's College.
In addition to my experience at Creekside in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, I taught third grade at the Katherine Delmar Burke School in San Francisco and fifth grade at Hunnewell Elementary School in the Wellesley Public School District.
My teaching philosophy revolves around fostering a life-long love of learning, which means meeting the needs of each individual student. The world is changing so fast and it is important to give students the tools and strategies that they need to be successful in the future. I encourage students to be active learners who are constantly investigating, questioning, and thinking about what they are learning. I believe in creating a respectful community of learners who empower, encourage, and collaborate with one another.
I look forward to learning with each and every one of your students this school year!
