Hi there! I’m originally from Pennsylvania but now call sunny Florida home. I’ve been a teacher since 2014 and have had the joy of working with students from elementary through high school. I’ve taught everything from third grade to middle school ESE, 8th grade Reading, and high school English Language Arts (grades 9–12). The photo here is from my middle school dance classroom in 2022—just one example of how I love bringing creativity into the learning experience.
I’m especially passionate about helping students develop strong critical thinking skills and a lifelong love of learning. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in English Literature, and I earned my master’s degree in Education: Curriculum and Instruction from Florida Gulf Coast University.
Outside the classroom, I’m inspired by all kinds of art—especially music, dance, and visual arts. I also enjoy reading, writing, and literature. I’m a certified yoga instructor and, although I haven’t taught yoga since 2022, I hope to return to it soon!
My nephew who I am so proud of just graduated class of 2024. He just started college at American University in Washington D.C.
This is my cat, Sugar. She ripped my notebook with her paw...lol.
I love nature.! Being in Florida I appreciate the sunshine, wildlife, and environment. I enjoy going to the beach, hiking, camping, gardening, and nature photography.
I have been teaching since 2014. This is with my 3rd graders.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, which gives me a strong foundation in understanding how people think, learn, and grow. Knowledge of cognition and perception is essential to learning theory and effective teaching methods, and I integrate these insights into my practice every day. I incorporate social-emotional learning strategies, emphasize the importance of growth mindset, and encourage meta-cognition and mindfulness in my students.
My approach blends constructivist principles, where students build knowledge through experience, with direct, explicit instruction to ensure clarity and mastery. I also value multi-disciplinary connections that make learning richer and more meaningful.
Some of my academic coursework included: neuropsychology, educational psychology, social psychology, child psychology, and health psychology.
I have always loved the power of the written word and the beauty of language. My minor in English Literature allowed me to dive deep into literary analysis and explore a wide range of authors and genres. During my graduate studies in Education at Florida Gulf Coast University, I concentrated in Language Arts, focusing on courses such as instructing struggling readers, developmental reading, and current trends in language arts education. Building on my passion for teaching, I pursued and earned a Master’s Degree in Education, specializing in Curriculum and Instruction. This advanced study deepened my ability to develop innovative, student-centered curricula and to align instructional strategies with the latest educational research.
