Objective 學習目標

Our objective at Mensheng is to deliver educational materials in an interactive and fun way instead of the traditional way of English teaching from textbooks. In our English Village, students will be able to practice their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through the English Village themes we have created, and accumulate their confidence towards English learning; ultimately, allowing the students to speak adequate English towards English speakers.

落實「聽、說、讀、寫」兼顧齊備的英語文教學，並能營造全英文教學的學習環境，讓英文聽力、口說能力，能夠透過在英語教室的互動學習方式，逐漸累積英文實力，跳脫教科書的框架，以主題課程，開啟英語學習新的視野，活化英語教學的現況，培養學生英文能力時能達到聽得懂、自信說的目標。

The World: Continents, Countries and Trade

The topic for this semester’s English Village at Minsheng Elementary School is ‘The World: Continents, Countries and Trade’. Students will learn about the continents of the world; North America, South America, Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia and Antarctica. They will explore the famous features of these continents, such as famous foods, places, rivers, mountains and more. We will then look at some of the countries from these continents and discover how trade between countries links the world together. Finally, the students will have the opportunity to experience how trade works by playing the ‘Trade Game’.

Welcome students in main classroom, students will be given tickets for their HSR trip. Teacher Ted will introduce himself and tell students some interesting stories about his home country, Scotland.

將學生帶進主教室，學生會獲得旅行的高鐵票。Ted將介紹自己並告訴學生關於他的祖國蘇格蘭的一些有趣的故事。

9:40 – 10:20

In the first session, students will be together as a whole class. They will watch a short video to introduce the topic, sentence patterns and vocabulary, followed by a quick review of the key vocabulary. The students will then learn the first role play, ‘Where are you going? / What are you going to do?’ Using the destination on their ticket and choosing a famous tourist attraction from their brochures, students will ask each other where they are going and what they are going to do when they get there. The first session will end with a whole class game to practice and recall vocabulary.

在第一節課中，學生將會看一個小影片是在介紹主題還有今天將要學的句子及單字，接著快速地複習一下主要單字。然後學生將會學到第一個情境劇" Where are you going?/What are you going to do?"，學生要利用高鐵票上所顯示的目的地並且選出一個有名的旅遊勝地來與同學進行對話，對話內容需要包含"where they are going? What they are going to do? When they get there?"，第一堂課就到這邊結束。

The second session begins in the main classroom with students again as a whole class. Using short videos and group activities, students will be introduced to, and given the chance to practice the role play for buying a ticket. The class will then be split into two groups with one group taking a turn to go through to the HSR station and the other remaining in the classroom. The groups will swap activities after around 20 mins.

在第二節課開始， 學生會透過影片及小組活動學習到如何買票並且實際操作。將整班學生分成兩組，兩組輪流參觀高鐵站，一組大概有20分鐘的時間。

10:40 – 11:20

HSR station activity – half class group will go to the Minsheng HSR station, review the ‘buying a ticket’ role play then each students will go to the ticket office, buy a ticket and take a seat on the train. Once the students are all on the train, they will be invited to ‘buy a snack’ from the selection on our snack trolley.

Classroom activity – half class group will work in pairs, watch a short video of a real HSR trip from Taipei – Zuoying and try to spot the vocab items as they appear on the screen and check them off. Then, using what they have learned about the vocab, students will complete a worksheet.

11.20 – 11.30

Whole class gathers again in the main classroom for a short game before getting attendance certificates and taking photos.

2018 /02-06

The World: Continents, Countries and Trade

The running order of the morning will be as follows;

· Introduction to English Village.

· Continent names

. ‘Where is it from?’ group activity.

· QR code investigation and ‘Quest’.

· Match up game – ‘Continents and Famous Things’.

· Trade introduction and video.

· Flags game.

· ‘What do they Trade?’

· BREAK

· World trade presentation.

· Big Trade Game.

· Candy Trade.

· Photos and Certificates.

The whole morning will take 2 hours including a short break.

Course Guidelines 課程規章

• Number of People: 30 students (inclusive)
• 學生人數限制：30 位參訪學生（包含）

• Minsheng Elementary School Visiting Time: Wednesdays @ 09:30 - 11:30 am
• 民生國小參訪時間為：星期三的早上09:30至11:30

• Target Audience: Gr. 5 & Gr. 6.
• 目標學生群為：小學五年級、六年級，需知道基礎英文

Visiting student requirements:

• Material preparation preview (see below).
• Encourage the students to speak English during the activities, and take part in them.
• Don’t shout, run, or touch classroom equipment.

請參訪學生配合以下規章:

• 詳閱預習教材（參閱網頁底）
• 鼓勵學生在課程活動中使用英語
• 課堂中不喧嘩，跑動，隨意觸碰設備

Visiting teacher requirements:

• Speak English to the students to as much as possible during the visit.
• Assist with classroom behavior.
• Encourage the students to participate but give them time to answer the questions.
• Cellphones should be on silent and refrained from using.

請參加的教師配合以下規章:

• 在活動期間盡可能與學生以英語溝通
• 協助維持課堂秩序
• 鼓勵學生參與但給予他們時間回答問題
• 將手機調成靜音並避免使用

General requirements:

• Be on time: not earlier, not later than the specified time.
• Please only take photos at appropriate times without interrupting the class.
• Compensations will be requested if items are altered in an undesired way.

一般規章:

• 準時：勿太早，不要比原定時間晚
• 請只在合適的時間拍照勿影響課堂
• 如果物品被破壞，需補償

• Visiting schools are required to complete a short survey after the visit (Google survey).
• 參訪學校在課程結束後，須完成課程意見回饋 (Google Survey)
