Since I was old enough to line up my stuffed animals and play "school", I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I was that strange kid who always enjoyed having a workbook over any other toy. The only explanation I can give is that I just loved learning. Even thorughout junior high and high school, I never lost that love. I truly do believe that I owe this to my elementary school teachers. They taught me in a way that always allowed me to be curious and want to learn, other than be forced. This is why I have such a passion for being a teacher. I believe the one thing that all children have in common is a longing to learn. Regaurdless of where you live, your family, or what you believe, it is human nature to want to learn. It is important that teachers fuel that fire, rather than contain it. I am determined to take student's interests and use them to create an envirnment where students are encourged and comfortable to push the limits and ask "why?" People are surprised when I tell them I have always dreamed of being a teacher and it is what I want to do for the rest of my life. But, I wish I could explain to them my determination and passion for making the next generation fall in love with learning just like I did.
