First Impressions

After boarding my final flight from Munich to Münster and exploring Werne, my first impression of Germany is that they really care about what their city looks like and take care of what they have. You can't walk down a street without seeing someone on a bicycle or walking. Germans appear to make a larger effort to protect the environment than what I've seen in America.

So far, I've experienced the most culture shock with my host family. When it came to food, the main thing people warned me about was the differences in breakfast. People in Germany typically have cold cut meats and cheeses with a piece of bread and butter or jam. This is much different from eggs, toast, bacon and sausage that I am used to in America. After several mornings of breakfast, this change is growing on me. Although I am really beginning to miss pieces of crispy bacon!
