Instructions for all activities will be posted here:  both in-class and at-home activities

Activities done in class will be posted within a day or two of the class (so as not to spoil the fun in class!)

Course-long Art Challenge:   A creative look at “Being Female”

“Woman” is a theme in art of all forms – literature, painting, poetry, drama.

If you dabble in art, create something responsive to our topics – or share a favorite by someone else.  

The challenge is not restricted to depictions/descriptions of humans.  Other organisms are just as relevant.

Due by the end of the course - and sooner is better  :)      I will collect images/documents to share with everyone.

Week 1 Activities:   An assignment to get you started 

Due before week 2:   a) What features, characteristics do/did you find attractive in a date? 

b) What features, characteristics do/did you find attractive in a potential life partner?

Email your lists to Barbara before next week’s class.  Write what comes to mind first (i.e., your "naive" response).

We will include this feedback during class in week 6.

Week 2 Activities:   

Due before week 3:   Are humans monogamous?    Why?  Or why not?

Once you decide (based on life experience and not too much deep thought), state your reasons in a few sentences.  

Email your response to Barbara before class session #3.  We will include this feedback during class in week 6.

Week 3 Activities:   

Due before week 4:   Rank the resources that are most important to provide for human children.  

Briefly explain why you came up with this ranking - or if that is too involved - what is the basis for your #1 choice.

Email your response to Barbara before class session #4.  We will include this feedback during class in week 6.

Week 4 Activities:   

Due before week 5:   What human behavior(s) do you most associate with active hormonal stimulation/involvement?
