Setting boundaries
When setting boundaries with your child, you always want to make sure that boundary is about what YOU'RE going to do, not what they are going to do.
Non-Example:
"You are not allowed to jump on the couch. Get off the couch right now!"
Example:
"You are not allowed to jump on the couch. If you do not stop, I will come and remove you off the couch."
When you set boundaries using enforceable sentences (right picture), you are able to follow-up with your demand and your words will become powerful.
Boundaries are the most effective when are kept as consistently as possible. Avoid setting boundaries that are not able to enforced consistently.
