Get to Know Me

A little bit about Mrs. Poss...

Quick back story...

Since I was fifteen, I was told that I would be a wonderful teacher because of my love for English and my relationships with people; however, as a high school sophomore, one of the last things I wanted to do was remain in a classroom longer than I had to be. I toyed with the idea of teaching when I was in college, but did not pursue a certification program. Instead, I graduated with a Bachelor's in English Literature (hoping to get paid to read books, as all of us English majors wish) from Georgia State University. Finally, after spending some years in the private sector and as a state employee in Georgia, I finally realized that teaching was a calling on my life. It wasn't enough to have a steady job, read for pleasure, and discuss literature with friends and colleagues: I wanted to play an active role in helping children learn to think deeply about the world, their society, and themselves through analyzing texts.

I graduated from Clayton State University with a Master's of Arts in Teaching Secondary English, and I am fully certified in English [6-12]. This is my third year in education.
