Rules & Expectations

expectations

Expectations are one of the most important things to know when you enter a new environment. Think about walking into a funeral: you would expect to be quiet, somber, and well-dressed. If you saw someone walk into a funeral home wearing a Hawaiian shirt, a baseball cap, and shorty-shorts, you would be incredibly surprised, maybe even offended! Well, this page is here to offer you some guidelines and expectations for the course.

In Mrs. Poss' English Class, you can expect Mrs. Poss to:

  • Show you respect by listening to your comments when your hand is raised
  • Promote your learning by challenging you to always do your best
  • Hold you accountable for your actions
  • Meet your individual learning needs
  • Be available for parent-teacher conferences on pre-planned days
  • Communicate effectively with you
  • Grade fairly and quickly

Just as you should have these expectations me, I expect you to:

  • Advocate for yourself
  • Set academic goals for yourself
  • Be accountable for your actions
  • Take notes in class
  • Actively listen to instruction
  • Work diligently every class period
  • Read and write outside of class.

rules

These are the 5 rules of the classroom to promote a safe, comfortable learning environment for every student. If you choose to not abide by these rules in Mrs. Poss' classroom, there will be progressive, negative consequences. If you adhere to these 5 simple rules, class will be a welcome, fun place for you to learn.

1. Respect your teacher, your peers, and yourself.

2. Raise your hand to speak out loud in class.

3. Remain seated in your assigned seat.

4. Do not eat or drink in the classroom (water is the only exception).

5. Be prepared for class.
