My name is Margaret A. Phillips. I have been a School Psychologist for 23 years in the Twin Rivers Unified School District and former Rio Linda Union School District. I graduated with my Master's in Counseling, with a School Psychology focus from California State University, Sacramento in 1997. I love my two jobs in life, being a School Psychologist and a Mom of my three children, ages 20, 19, and 12. My goal at school is to support students overcome the challenges, consult and support parents, and be a resource for teachers. I am currently assigned to support Garden Valley Elementary School (preK-6th grades) and Rio Linda Preparatory Academy (5th-8th grades).

I grew up in the Bay Area, Vallejo, CA and moved to the Sacramento area for my graduate studies. I enjoy playing video games on my phone (Angry Birds, Homescape, Solitaire, etc.) and talking about it with my students. I also enjoy going to museums with my children and learning about all different cultures. My students always tease me about always drinking too much coffee...aka Mtn. Dew.

This pandemic has been challenging for me as a parent and School Psychologist. Finding the balance of working at home and getting my work done and being a mom/distance learning teacher is TOUGH! I find myself more exhausted at the end of the day and I am constantly thinking about all my students. I miss hearing the "gossip" and helping them navigate their way through the challenges that our youth face today. I often wonder if I would have been as successful and resilient as our kids with all the social media pressure, peer pressure, and life stresses that they face. I cannot wait to reunite with all of the students, teachers, and families again real soon. I hope that you are taking good care of yourselves! Let me know if I can do anything to support you!
