The 1960s was a time characterized by movements such as the Civil Rights Movement, the Vietnam War and antiwar protests, countercultural movements, and assassinations. In this history box, common artifacts are used to represent important events that took place in the 1960s. Students are tasked with studying the items in the history box in order to obtain a deeper understanding of the decade. As they interact with the artifacts, in conjunction with studying the events of the 1960s, students will better remember and comprehend the transformative events that shaped our culture today. This box serves as a hands-on approach to learning, allowing kids to learn though vicarious experiences.
