The Nón Lá: The Hat That Saved the Day!
The Nón Lá, Vietnam's iconic conical hat, is a national symbol of Vietnam. Its origins are rooted in Vietnamese rice farming culture, linked to a legend of a goddess who, during a great flood, wore a protective hat of four large leaves and bamboo.
Inspired by this, the Vietnamese people created their own nón lá hats, using palm leaves and bamboo. Crafting these hats is a skillful process: leaves are carefully gathered, dried, flattened, and woven onto a bamboo frame, resulting in a waterproof and beautiful head covering.
