Hello! I'm Celeste Ashimine, or as you may better know me as "Ms. Ash", which I prefer to go by. As you will find below, I'm excited to share a bit about my journey and dedication to education.
I graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2019, Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science, emphasizing health and exercise science. In 2022, I returned to UH Manoa to earn my post-baccalaureate certificate in secondary physical education, and I began teaching at Waipahu High School in the spring of 2022. I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Adapted Physical Activity and Education, which I will complete in July 2025.
My dedication to teaching and commitment to my students inspire me to continually pursue professional growth. Since starting my teaching career, I've attended the SHAPE America Convention in 2024 and the HAHPERD Conference in 2023 and 2024 to stay current with best practices in physical health and education. I've also taken professional development courses in online learning, growth mindset, standards deconstruction, college readiness, differentiation strategies, and neuroscience-based educational methods. My ultimate goal is to cultivate an engaging, safe, and challenging learning environment for all my students.
I am conscious of issues affecting equity, diversity, and inclusion within health and physical education, and I strive to be a reflective educator. My goal is to ensure that all students have access to quality physical education. I have demonstrated success in working with people of varying abilities and am eager to enhance my understanding of adaptive programming to benefit the young people and colleagues I work with in Waipahu.
I have provided links to a number of links & resources that will help students to be successful throughout the school year. Feel free to explore!
