Submission Deadlines:
Assignments are due by 11:59PM every Saturday night.
Late submissions will be accepted up to one week past the deadline (11:59PM the following Saturday).
Late Submission Penalty:
Assignments submitted within 24 hours after the deadline will incur a 10% penalty.
Submissions between 24 hours and one week late will incur a 20% penalty.
Submissions more than one week late will not be accepted for credit unless a formal extension has been granted from the teacher.
Extension Requests:
Extensions must be requested via email before the assignment’s due date.
Valid reasons for extension requests include medical emergencies, family emergencies, or other significant personal issues. Documentation may be required.
Make-Up Work:
For assignments missed due to excused absences, students must contact Ms. Ash within 48 hours of returning to class to arrange for make-up work.
Communication:
It is the student’s responsibility to communicate with the instructor if they anticipate any issues with meeting deadlines. Proactive communication is crucial for making alternative arrangements.
Academic Dishonesty:
Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, plagiarism, cheating on exams, using unauthorized resources, and submitting work that is not the student’s own.
Plagiarism:
Plagiarism is the act of using someone else’s work, ideas, or words without proper citation. This includes copying text from sources without quotation marks or paraphrasing without acknowledgment.
Cheating:
Cheating involves using unauthorized materials or receiving unauthorized assistance during exams or assignments. This also includes using another student’s work or allowing someone else to complete assignments on your behalf.
Reporting Violations:
Suspected violations will be reported to the instructor immediately. The instructor will investigate the incident and, if necessary, involve academic administration.
Consequences:
First Offense: The student will receive a warning and may be required to redo the assignment or exam with a possible penalty.
Second Offense: The student will receive a zero on the assignment or exam and may face additional disciplinary actions.
Repeated Offenses: May result in a failing grade for the course and further disciplinary action, up to and including suspension.
Student Responsibilities:
Students are expected to familiarize themselves with and adhere to the academic integrity policies. Engaging in honest academic practices is crucial for personal and academic growth.
Acknowledgment:
At the beginning of the course, students will be required to sign an acknowledgment form confirming their understanding of the Academic Integrity Policy and its importance.
