Assigned Work List & Additional Material

  • For Potato Harvest students: If you have any questions or assignments to submit, email them here: Todd.Swim@nbed.nb.ca; when sharing in Google Docs you will have to use my teacher gmail address I'll provide later.

  • Your first time on the computer you will need to make a folder called, "BBT10" value 5. Make this folder in your personal drive. You will be saving your work for this course in only 3 places: your BBT10 folder in your personal drive, your Google Drive BBT10 folder & your Office 365 course folder that you share with your teacher.

  • When saving files be sure to use a descriptive file name for that particular activity, if one is not provided.

  • Save your work frequently! You should make about 8 to 10 saves per class! Only save in your U drive or Google drive! They are the only safe places for your course work! Do not save on the local computer!

Do ChatterHigh at the first of the class!! (Check with me to see if we are currently in a competition)

All Students will do the first 4 Units with options to select from Units 5 - 10.

Unit 1:

  1. Complete the Google Docs Lesson 1 assignment here.

  2. Complete the Google Docs Lesson 2 assignment here.

  • Make sure you have 3 files in your newly shared BBT10_YourUsername

Unit 2:

Digital Citizenship Education Units (Screwball) - Core Technology Skills

Digital Security:

  • New Brunswick BBT Web Page link; click on Core Technology Skills

  • go to the link above and complete the Digital Security assignment. Complete the assignment using Google Docs. Only do Assignment 1.

  • Save your file as: Security and put it in your shared course folder in Google drive.

Digital Communication:

  • go to the link above and complete the Digital Communication assignment. Complete the assignment using Google Docs. Only do Assignment 1.

  • Save your file as: Communication and put it in your shared course folder in Google drive.

Digital Right & Responsibilities:

  • go to the link above and complete the Digital Rights and Responsibilities assignment (The Ten Commandments) Complete the assignment using Google Docs.

  • Save your file as: Right & Responsibilities and put it in your shared course folder in Google drive.

Digital Etiquette:

  • go to the link above and complete the Digital Etiquette assignment. Do only Assignment #2 (NETiquette). Complete the assignment using Google Docs.

  • Save your file as: Etiquette and put it in your shared course folder in Google drive.

Digital Wellness:

  • go to the link above and complete the Digital Wellness assignment. Complete only Assignment 1 using Google Docs. You will not need to use the 2 meter sticks and other apparatus.

  • Save your file as: Wellness and put it in your shared course folder in Google drive.

Complete the BBT 10 Core Skills Final Assessment /31 points. (click here) Print it off, complete it and hand it in.

Unit 3:

Touch Typing Refresher with All The Right Type.

  • Use the box. Don't peek. Work in the Practice Pavillion unless you are tempted to peek. If you can't remember where keys are go to the Learning Lab. You will practice for 5 periods and record your results on Google Docs, in your BBT10_FirLas00123 folder. Save the doc as "Touch Typing". You can use the snipping tool to copy results from the Records library in ATRT, every day, (So you should have 5 snips in total) and paste the results in your "Touch Typing" document. Value 10

  • View the instructional videos for Office 365 on my Office 365 lesson on the Student Tutorials page.

  • You may need to go to the Student Email lesson on my Student Tutorials page to log in to Office 365.

  • Go to my Office 365 lesson on my Student Tutorial's page or click on the button to the right.

  4. Office 365 - MSWord; complete "TeenWork_(student username)"

  5. Office 365 - MSPowerpoint; complete "School_(student username)"

  6. Office 365 - MSExcel; complete "Finance_(student username)"

Students now choose options to select from Units 5 - 10. Any 3.

Unit 5:

Packing Tape Transfer

  • Follow the directions on my Packing Tape Transfer lesson in Student Tutorials

  • Save your file in MSPowerpoint format in your school home folder; U:\BBT10; call the file "Packing Tape"

Unit 6:

Pixlr

  • View the instructional videos for Pixlr on my Student Tutorials page.

  • Pixlr tools handout, in PDF file.

  • Do a Pixlr picture of your favourite hobby, event, .

  • Use layers for full value

  • Save a snip or screen capture in your Google docs course folder or save it as "pixlr" in your school home folder; U:\BBT10

Unit 7:

Paper Folding/Art:

Students will produce any or all of the paper folding choices from the paper folding/art page. Directions are here.

Unit 8:

21st Century Careers:

Students will research a current, future up-coming career and make a presentation. Directions are here.

Unit 9:

Minecraft:

Students will install the Minecraft Education Edition if needed. Spend 3 periods navigating through Minecraft worlds or creating their own. Directions are found in the Student Tutorials - Minecraft page or just click here.

Unit 10:

ASCII Art:

Students will create at least one 'original', not using a conversion program, ASCII art project.

ChatterHigh's Competition:

Students will study postsecondary pathways, possible career goals, health and financial information. In short, some life skills. Directions are available here. The time allotted should be 5% of the term.
