Students will need to differentiate between arithmetic and geometric number sequences, find the common difference/ration, find the value of a term, and find what term equals a particular value. They will need to write each in recursive and explicit form.

Students will be working on solving a system of linear equations using graphing, elimination, and substitution.

Students are finishing their work with square roots and are working on beginning algebra skills- what is a constant, what is a variable, what are like terms, what does it mean to simplify an expression. Students may turn in extra credit packet on 12/4.

Students are working on learning their perfect squares from 1-20 for use with square roots. Students are working on squaring a number, taking the square root of a perfect square, deciding what to whole numbers a non-perfect square comes between, and factoring out perfect squares from large numbers.

Building upon working with integers, we will be expanding the number system to rational numbers where students will be working with fractions and decimals. This week will be rebuilding fraction mastery.

Essential skill students are continuing to work on is integer rules. They were assessed and may retake this assessment until earning mastery of the skill set.

This week was dedicated to using manipulatives and number lines to deduct and reason algorithms to remember how to think about integer rules.

This week we began pre-assessments to gauge mastery of middle school common core standards, as they will be built upon in Algebra 1.
