Summer Reading and Skills Review: 2025-2026
Incoming Fifth Grade
Summer brings many opportunities for activities, relaxation, and fun time with family. These months away from school also are a great time to review and practice the Math and Language skills which were introduced during previous school years. I highly recommend that you frequently use the IXL platform to assist you with Math and Language Arts. Please complete the Summer IXL Challenge which you can easily access from my website or from Google Classroom. IXL has been very beneficial for my fifth grade students during the school year. Log in and practice 4th grade topics weekly to review and maintain skills. (Remember to log in wih your username which ends with @diocesecamden) Practice Math facts frequently; they are the key to success in solving problem accurately!
Another meaningful way to stay sharp in Math would be to complete any remaining pages of the Simple Solutions book used in 4th grade. The "Help" section in the back of the book serves as a wonderful tool when you may be a little confused or just need to refresh your memory. Bring the completed book to class in September so that we are able to review those skills and discuss any questions you may have. During the first week of school 5th graders will be completing a Math quiz of skills which were learned in previous school years. As a reminder, you will also receive a quiz grade for your completion of the IXL Skills Challenge in Math and Language Arts.
