Math!

In first grade, we use the enVision Mathematics curriculum to build strong number sense, problem-solving skills, and mathematical confidence. Students explore addition and subtraction, place value, comparing numbers, measurement, time, data, and geometry.

We emphasize learning multiple strategies for solving problems because mathematicians can reach the same answer in different ways. Students are encouraged to explain their thinking, choose strategies that make sense to them, and learn from the ideas of others.

We also practice math facts regularly to build accuracy and fluency. Hands-on activities and math games are incorporated throughout our lessons to reinforce important skills, encourage teamwork, and make learning math engaging and fun.
