Every year, our students shine at Art Hop! This year, they learned how resilience has shaped our democracy over the past 250 years. Each student created a personal artwork that expresses what resilience means to them and chose a meaningful speech, song, or anthem to deepen their message.
Faces of Our Shared Humanity (Art Hop 2024)
Students created self-portraits inspired by the celebration of culture and meaningful connection. Through books, discussions, and personal reflections, they learned about diverse traditions, values, and ways of life, while exploring their own cultural backgrounds through family conversations and shared artifacts. They studied artists like Frida Kahlo to see how identity can be expressed through art, and used these inspirations to infuse their own stories, symbols, and heritage into their portraits. This experience strengthened their artistic skills, deepened literacy, and helped them build empathy and community as they discovered the shared humanity that connects them all.Â
