In 2023, after a 13 year hiatus to stay home with my children, I returned to a Catholic school classroom, as a part time religion teacher teaching grades 5 and 6 for St. James Regional. I'm delighted to be heading back again for year three at St. James!
I taught first grade at Annunciation BVM in Havertown for 11 wonderful years, till my oldest son John was born. In addition to raising my four boys, I kept busy (for many years!) as a music minister at St. John Chrysostom Church in Wallingford, and filling in at other local churches when needed. In my work in music ministry, I've worked with a wide variety of ages and groups: children's choirs (including one at St. James prior to the pandemic!), high school choirs, my college chapel choir, and adult cantors. I'm so grateful that my part time position allows me to also have the flexibility to continue the music ministry work that I love so much. God is good!
I feel like God has guided me to many places I was meant to be in my life, and St. James Regional is one of them! When I was pregnant with John, I was called on to fill in as a substitute for St. Madeline's organist one weekend, and spotted a bulletin board flyer for the Noah's Ark mom's group. I loved the idea of meeting Catholic "mom friends" who lived nearby, so a few months after John was born, I started spending my Thursday mornings in St. Madeline's Spiritual Life Center with the Noah's Ark group. A few years later, when it was time to decide where to send my almost-three year old for preschool, we decided to look at St. James in addition to my home parish. We went to both open houses, and something about St. James just felt right... and here we are, years later, as rooted in the St. James Regional school community as ever and loving it!
My husband Joe and I have four sons (3 St. James students and at Cardinal O'Hara high school): John, Matthew, Timmy, and Danny. In 2021, we moved to Wallingford, one street away from where I grew up. The decision to remain at St. James despite moving further away from the school was unanimous! We love our school community at St. James, we love our parish community at St. John's, and we are grateful for the blessing of all the good people in our lives.
